This is the first of up to four messages (1:Wellness, 2:School wide updates, 3: Updates for families on Hybrid, 4: Faculty/Staff updates).

On this Thoughtful Thursday, one of the suggestions from LAUSD’s Resilience Daily website (https://achieve.lausd.net/Page/17221) is, “Right now, send a message to a neighbor or friend and ask how you can help them. This can put our stressors into perspective, and gives us a ‘helper’s high.’” I texted my Nanay and she said she could use a matcha frapp! On my way!

Author Audre Lorde writes, “Our feelings are our most genuine paths to knowledge.” There has been a LOT going on this week. Next week will also have a range of emotions as we re-open campus. Below are two resources:

  1. LAUSD Mental Health Hotline weekdays, 6am-6pm (213)241-3840
  2. Wellness Together School Mental Health, in partnership with the San Diego County Office of Education and the California Department of Education will host Mind Out Loud – a free three-day virtual event on May 4-6, 2021 from 3:30-5:00 p.m. for middle and high school students to convene and boldly discuss mental health; connect with peers across California; hear from engaging speakers to become equipped with practical tools for wellness; increase mental health awareness and advocacy for themselves and friends; learn about suicide prevention; and reduce stigma associated with mental health. https://mailchi.mp/9f15eda79bd1/2019-california-student-mental-wellness-conference-1242317?e=14c772d2cb (Thank you to Mr. Shattuck for sharing!)
