School Updates, March 20th

Greetings Eagle Rock families! This is Principal Steinorth your school update for the week of March 20th. No one is happier than I today as we had the chance to welcome our students and staff back to campus. We have one more week of instruction before we head into Spring Break.

If you are looking for a good family dinner on Sunday, come on over the Fraternal Order of the Eagles lodge on Yosemite drive from 5:00-8:00 p.m. for a PTSA sponsored spaghetti dinner in support of our band program. Dinners can be packaged to go our you may eat on site. A silent auction and of course music will be a part of the event. Tickets are $10 a person.

Wednesday, March 29th will be especially busy at the Rock. In the morning, our school will host 6th graders from our feeder elementary schools. In the afternoon, there is the Spring Senior Parent Meeting at 5:00 p.m. in the Auditorium followed by Student-Led Conferences from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Ten Week Report Cards will be available for parents to pick up beginning at 5:45 p.m.

The deadline to register students for the April 3rd and 4th Acceleration Days has been extended until Wednesday, March 29th. Parents can register their students online via the LAUSD Parent Portal or by contacting their counselor here at school.

Seniors, next week is the last week to purchase  Grad Nite tickets. Tickets will be on sale Wednesday and Thursday next week at Lunch and after school. Tickets are $270. Get them while you can!

Juniors, the Junior Dinner Dance is April 14th. Did you miss your chance to buy a ticket? Cheer up! There are a limited number of tickets still available. See Mr. Cohen if you are interested.

In athletics, the rain has played havoc with our schedules but all of our Spring season teams remain in action next week. Special shout out to our Boys’ Varsity Basketball Coach Chris Dunbar for being named Coach of the Year by the LA Times after nabbing his 3rd city championship this year!

Finally, Thursday, March 30th is a Minimum Day with dismissal at 1:08 p.m. and the school will be closed on Friday, March 31st in honor of Caesar Chavez Day. Spring break will take place from April-3rd-7th and school will resume on Monday, April 10th. Have safe and pleasant weekend everyone!
