Ava Avila Teacher Individuals & Societies (323) 340-3500 "Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right." Henry Ford Educational Philosophy: I am a big proponent of project-based, student-centered teaching. Students learn what they do. What I value most about ERHS: The students. About Me: Welcome! My history with LAUSD began as a student at Hollenbeck Middle and Theodore Roosevelt High School. After graduating from California State University, Los Angeles, I began teaching at Eagle Rock Junior Senior High School where I have taught all classes at all grade levels. The 2018-2019 school year marks my 20th year of teaching at Eagle Rock, and my 21st year with the district. For the 2018-2019 school year, I will be teaching Medieval World History (7th), US History (8th), and the following Honors classes: Modern World History (10th), US History (11th), Economics (12th), and Government (12th). It is an honor to teach your children. As the Department Chair of the Individuals and Societies Department, I look forward to a great year.
