What steps do investigators take to solve a murder mystery using collected evidence and witnesses to to solve the murder mystery and close the case?

My project is about a young girl named Jonebet Ramsey who was murdered in her own home with lots of evidence but no justice was served. My goal was to collect all the evidence and suspects to solve her murder, I made a movie about this cold case and concluded with my own theory of what might have happened.
