School update for the week of February 27th

Happy Friday Eagle Rock families! This is Principal Steinorth your school update for the week of February 27th.

Congratulations to our Boys’ Soccer and Basketball teams for their amazing seasons and winning their respective City Championships! Unfortunately, both teams fell on Tuesday evening in the CIF State Regional playoffs. Soccer dropped their playoff game against Littlerock 5-1 after losing both their starting and backup goal keepers to injury. Basketball fell to St. Bonaventure 69-43 in Ventura. Nevertheless, both teams had amazing seasons and made our school proud! Our ASB Leadership will hold a special Pep Rally next week at Lunch on Wednesday to celebrate the amazing seasons that both teams had.

Our Spring season athletic teams have all begun their seasons as well. Check the athletics schedule on our school website to find the dates and times of games Boys’ Volleyball, Baseball, Softball, Boy’s Tennis, Swim, and Track.

The month of March marks the beginning of CAASPP testing. CAASPP stands for the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress. At our school students will be tested for academic progress in grades 7, 8, 10, and 11 via several different assessment such as, the Smarter Balanced Assessment, also known as SBAC, the California Science Test, also known as CAST, or the California Alternate Assessment, known as the CAA. Please see the letter regarding state assessments attached to the emaill version of this message and is posted on our school website for more information.

Senior families, if you need help deciphering college offers or financial aid packages, or submitting a late application, our College Office is holding workshops on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until Noon for next several weeks. Drop in and get the help you need.

Parents, we need your help. Please help us communicate to your students that the school will no longer allow students to accept food deliveries from services such as Postmates or Uber Eats. Any such delivery to the school will be turned away. As a reminder, every student can eat breakfast and lunch free of charge daily for the duration of this school year.

Finally, as a reminder after school tutoring is available Monday thru Friday in the school Library. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays Eagle Rock teachers supplement the regular tutoring staff from A World Fit For Kids. Have a safe and restful weekend everyone!
