Greetings Eagle Rock families! This is Principal Steinorth with your school update for the week of September 19th. The school is preparing for our first LAUSD Acceleration Day on Wednesday, October 19. This day has been designed for students to have intervention and enrichment activities based on their grade level and needs. In order to prepare for this optional day, we need to know if your child will attend. Please complete the survey linked in the email and text version of this message and on our school website by Wednesday, September 28th. The survey can be accessed here https://forms.gle/kQG35RAAauvWCUCa9 As of this week, nearly half of our student households have submitted a More Than A Meal Application. As great as that is, we need every family to complete one. The amount of meal applications that qualify for free or reduced meals determines our school’s Title I and other categorical funding for the next school year. Additionally, students who qualify may be eligible to have some of their college application fees waived and IB, AP and SAT exams fees may be significantly reduced. It only takes a few minutes to apply—just go to our school’s website and click on the meal application icon under the Parents tab or go directly to https://www.myschoolapps.com/ . If you prefer a paper application, pick one up in either the Attendance or Main Office. Only one application per family is needed. In athletics, our Fall season is in full swing with Girls’ Volleyball, Girls’ Tennis, Boys’ Water Polo, and Cross Country all in action next week. Next week is also Spirit Week at the school culminating on Friday, September 30th with JV and Varsity football hosting Franklin. The games will start at 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. We anticipate a large crowd for these games and encourage everyone to buy presale tickets at the Student Store if possible. Finally, the school will closed on Monday, September 26th as an LAUSD Unassigned Day. Classes will resume on Tuesday, September 27th. Have a fantastic weekend everyone!
