Welcome back to school!

Greetings Eagle Rock families! This is Principal Steinorth and I am excited to welcome you to the start of the 2022-2023 school year! Under LAUSD Superintendent Carvalho’s leadership, our School Board approved a new Strategic Plan for our district. The Strategic Plan will guide our district’s work through 2026 while enabling us to be even more responsive to the needs of our students and school community. If you have not had an opportunity to do so, you can view and download this plan at achieve.lausd.net.

COVID safety is again a priority in preparation for students returning to school. Eagle Rock is offering multiple opportunities for students to pick up two Rapid Antigen tests before school begins. On Monday, August 8th we will offer drive by pick up on Yosemite Drive near the North Gym from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 9th through Friday, August 12th, students may pick up their COVID tests at the La Roda entrance to the school. New Eagle Rock students are invited to pick up their tests during New Student Orientation on Tuesday, August 9th (new 7th graders) and Wednesday, August 10th (new students 7-12) from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The Orientation will begin in the school auditorium and will also allow new Eagles to learn more about the school, purchase their PE cloths, and receive a school issued computing device.

The school year will officially begin for students on Monday, August 15th at 8:30 a.m. Students are asked to take a Rapid Antigen Test at home within 48 hours of reporting to school for the first day of instruction. Students testing positive are asked to upload a picture of their test results into the LAUSD Daily Pass system along with their name, student ID number, date of birth and the date and time of the test result. Positive cases should self-isolate at home and retest after 5 days. If the retest is negative, students should upload the negative test result and they can return to school. If the retest is positive, students may return to school on the 11th day following the initial positive test result.

Students are reminded to please arrive early for school on the 15th to allow time for COVID screening. New 7th graders will report to the Auditorium first to meet their Advisory Teachers. All other students will be directed to their Advisory Classrooms. I look forward to seeing you all very soon!
