April 8th Updates

Hello, Eagles!

  1. Our Hybrid-Over 375 families selected the Hybrid model. Much preparation has begun, such as balancing cohorts, campus signage, teacher classroom set up, and planning tours for new students. If you are a NEW student on the hybrid, you will receive an invitation about student tours on Saturday, April 17 and Monday, April 19. Please take a COVID 19 test by April 14 to participate.
  2. Secondary Hybrid is set to start the week of April 26. In our ER/HLP area, Dahlia Heights ES starts on April 12 and all other elementary schools start on April 19. We are awaiting tomorrow’s meeting with LSLC to determine which grades are starting on which dates. The draft plan is Monday April 26, all grades virtual/remote in green day periods 1-4, 4/27: 7th & 9th in HR H and periods 1 & 2, 4/28 in 7th & 9th in HR L and periods 3 &4, 4/29 all in HR H and periods 5&6, 4/30 all in HR L and periods 7&8. May 3 will be a grey day periods 5-8 and HR L/G.
  3. Vaccinations Updates:

a.             LAUSD information: https://achieve.lausd.net/Page/17450 At this time, the closest Vaccination site to our school is Lincoln HS.

b.             CAL STATE LA Covid-19 Vaccination Center is Taking Appointments, All Ages (18 and up) for the Johnson and Johnson Vaccine Until April 11, 2021 Due to Oversupply.

Vaccinations are by appointment only. Those seeking vaccination may make a drive-thru or walk-up appointment through the state’s MyTurn scheduling system or by calling (833) 422-4255. The Vaccination Center at Cal State LA is administering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which requires just one shot.

Drive-thru vaccinations are offered in Lot 5. Vaccinations of those with walk-up appointments take place in Structure A. For those who use public transportation, shuttles are available from the campus Transit Center to Structure A.

  1. Volunteers Needed: Our Community Representative Ms. Suraya Duran just provided new information for volunteer procedures. Please review and apply, if interested. Thank you, in advance, for your collaboration and partnership! Our volunteer team was invaluable prior to closing in March 2020, with materials distribution and keeping us organized. We are excited to safely welcome back parents/guardians to support our Return to Campus protocols. More details on Schoology.
  2. Grab and Go ends tomorrow, April 9. We are so thankful to our Grab and Go team that ends on Friday, April 9th. We appreciate the leadership of Lead Barbara Aviles, Cafeteria Manager Christina Chavez, and Plant Manager Javier Ruiz and teamwork of over forty Eagles! Please stop by 7am-10am for meals and to share your appreciation for feeding our community for the past year! See attached for more details.

  2. ROCK Madness is tomorrow, Friday at 6pm!! See attached flyer to cheer on the Class of 2021 and 2022 in video and Rocket League competition. Twitch: eaglerockttv Log on from 6p-7:30p! Shout out to Ms. Cisneros & Charles!
  3. April 14 Schedule- ALL grades meet in HR H. HR L will be a celebration of our 10th graders as they present their IB MYP Personal Projects to their mentors! Way to go Class of 2023!
  4. Student Voice-Join us for our inaugural Intra-Extra Curricular Student Voices Conference on April 16, 4p-5p! We have over five sessions led by teams of Eagle students & faculty. The purpose is to center student voices through co-creation of topics including Reading as a Form of Resistance and Student Voice for Advocacy & Activism.   5. Class of 2021-Seniors and teachers with Senior Advisories, save the date for April 21! We will be sharing info regarding Class of 2021 events during Student and Family meetings during HR 10:50a-11:20a or HR 11:50a-12:20p. Zoom info below.
  6. Athletics -Thank you to our athletes, coaches, campus aides, AD Martinez, and AP Tsui for supporting conditioning and wellness. Track/XC, volleyball, and girls basketball have brought much-needed student energy to our campus. Go Eagles!

7.    Digital Citizenship­-Please continue to rock the ROCK. We have had reports of inappropriate student interactions on Discord. Families, check in with your student about this platform and reminders about Internet safety as a reflection of our community. Hello, AP Test Takers,

Thank you for College and Career Advisor Mr. Oswald for his leadership with AP exams and collaboration with Financial  Manager Mr. De La Rosa. We also appreciate our AP teachers and students! AP Exams AP Exams Fee Payment Deadline April 16 - Students who intend to take the AP exam are to submit their confirmation on the google form emailed to your student’s lausd.mymail.net account. Users will be directed to the ERHS Payment Webstore for payment of AP exams.  Digital Payment window is March 25th through April 16. 

  • In Person Payment April 12-April 16 - In person payment is an option with check, cash, or money order payment.  Students are to enter campus through the cafeteria parking lot gate (near the turnaround on La Roda Avenue), drop off the payment with our staff at the check-in station, and complete a paper receipt for records.  Please make checks payable to Eagle Rock High School. In person payment window is April 12 through April 16.   
  • AP App for Taking the Exam:   The app used for online exams will become available April 8th.  Students can practice with it beforehand and need to sign in 24-72 hours prior to each of their exams.
