Principal Keipp

Good evening. This is ERJSHS School Principal Keipp with an important message for our families.

At noon on Friday, international climate activist Greta Thunberg will appear at Youth Climate Strike Los Angeles, a rally planned for the steps of City Hall. Climate change is one of the defining issues of our time and will shape the future.

The voice of our students in addressing this issue is important. Our school will connect students by sharing information and teachers may decide how to connect the following options with their standards-based lesson during period 3:

n  Los Angeles Unified will live-stream Ms. Thunberg’s remarks from Youth Climate Strike Los Angeles on our website atlausd.net to share in our schools.

n  Discussing ways students can become more effective advocates on this issue.

n  Giving students the opportunity to discuss climate change

We will not provide supervision for any student who leaves campus to participate in the rally at City Hall. However, if a parent or guardian checks a student out of school to participate in Youth Climate Strike Los Angeles, the absence will be considered excused due to the educational component.

If you have any questions, please call me at (323)340-3500. Thank you for your time and continued support.

SPANISH

Buenas noches.
