Announcement November 14th

Hello, Eagles! This is Mrs.Keipp with the first of two announcements. The first are updates and the second is the School Experience Survey.

It is with sadness that we collectively mourn the young lives lost at Saugus High School today. Please take this time to 1) hug your family, 2) review safety procedures and 3) if you see something dangerous, please report it!

  1. Arts: Join our Concert in the Quad on November 16 from 2-5pm in the Quad! Great music for only $5 pre-sale or $7 at the door!
  2. Athletics:
    1. Congratulations to Girls Volleyball and Coach Tim for winning the CIF Open Championship and earning the #1 title!
    2. Congratulations to Water Polo for finishing #3 in the City!
    3. Congratulations to our college-bound athletes: James to BYU for XC, Kailee to UC Davis for swim, Elianna to SDSU for softball and more to come!
    4. Come to football playoffs tomorrow at 7pm as our Eagles play Locke Saints!
  3. Academics:
    1. Thank you to Ms. Caro for organizing our guest speaker today to honor all Native Americans and to acknowledge their ongoing contributions to the success and development of our Nation. The 2019 observance theme for Native American Heritage month is: “Honoring Our Nations: Building Strength Through Understanding.
    2. 15-week grades were submitted last Friday; Parents/guardians, please dialogue with your student about successes and opportunities for growth using Schoology through Parent Portal.
    3. Saturday is detention from 8am-noon in the cafeteria; students be there if you need to follow up with behavioral consequences.
    4. Local School Leadership Council had a great dialogue today about our pending bell schedule situation to support financial sustainability while meeting our governance accountabilities. We have tabled our conversation pending continued advocacy with LAUSD. We will reconvene on December 5 at 3:30pm. Preliminary conversations include a teacher ballot for a 4x2 schedule with nutrition and a straight 6 schedule.
