Announcements May 17th

Hello, Eagles,  This is Mrs. Keipp with the first of two announcements. The first is about academics and meetings. The second is about arts and athletics at The Rock.

Academics:

  1. As AP and IB DP testing wrap up, please be advised that students’ absences will be cleared for test takers. Also, there is a $15 fee for students who registered and did not take their exams.
  2. Please remember to continue checking Schoology for class and school updates.
  3. May 24 is a minimum day with a 12:30pm dismissal to prepare for upcoming finals.
  4.  School is closed on Monday May 27 for Memorial Day. Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in military service for the United States.

Meetings next week:

  1. Monday: Parent Informational Meeting regarding integration for students in Special Education, 8am in the library.
  2. Tuesday: LSLC, 4pm in the Student Cafeteria, to review our Community Schools plan
  3. Wednesday: SSC, 3:30pm in the Faculty Cafeteria to review our SPSA plan
  4. Thursday: SWPBIC, 7:15am in the Title 1 office to review our school safety data

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. On Tuesday, May 28, our faculty meeting will include a presentation about Suicide Bereavement Services from a director at Didi Hirsch, one of our community partners. Athletics:

  1. Join us on Thursday, May 23, from 9:30am-noon for our Unified Softball Tournament. Our team is one of six LAUSD schools competing at Yosemite Park!
  2. Stop by El Camino College tonight for Track and Field Finals beginning at 5pm!

Arts: 

  1. Thank you to our yearbook class and sponsor Ms. Youngblood-Jarman for our 2018-19 Totem Yearbook. The yearbooks have arrived in the student store!  If you preordered, make sure to pick yours up from the student store with your student ID ASAP. Last year, we sold out!! If you haven't purchased one, bring $99 to the student store ASAP - so you don't miss out!
  2. Our Eagle Rock Junior/Senior Dance Company presents a dance showcase on Thursday, May 23, 7pm, at Eagle Rock Elementary School’s auditorium. Tickets are $5 pre-sale and $7 at the door.
  3. Our Spring Musical, “School of Rock” opens next week, Thursday-Saturday. Come see our talented on-stage performers and behind-the-scenes stage crew in action! Tickets are $10 pre-sale and $12 at the door:http://erhs.la/sites/default/files/global/school_of_rock_poster_final.jpg
  4. Congratulations to Jasmin R. & Bea G. for their Congressional Arts recognition tomorrow! View the artwork submitted and vote for the People’s Choice award here at Congressman Jimmy Gomez’ Facebook page.
  5.
