Announcements for the Week of Nov. 5th

Hello, Eagles! This is Mrs. Keipp with the first of two e-mail updates from The Rock. The first e-mail is about updates about school updates. The second e-mail is about upcoming opportunities for parents.

Academics:

  1. The SAT is being administered tomorrow, 11/3. Make sure to bring the required items.
  2. Detention is being held tomorrow, 11/3, in the student cafeteria for infractions related to inappropriate behavior and uncleared absences.
  3. Congratulations to our Journalism class, teacher Mr. Malmed, and editor Lola for publishing the 2nd edition of the 2018-19 Eagle’s Scream. Our Tiki awaits your messages.
  4. Thank you to our school wide mentors for supporting our 10th graders as they continue their International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme Personal Projects! The second mentor meeting was is Tuesday, November 6. Parents, please check in with your 10th graders about their progress. Visit http://tinyurl.com/erhspersonalproject for more information.
  5. Continue to monitor student progress on Schoology; fifteen week grades are due on November 16.

Arts:

  1. Join our musicians on Saturday, November 3, at 4:30p for our Fall Jazz Concert in the Quad! Latin Jazz, Monk Combo Jazz, Intermediate, Concert, and Symphonic Bands will be performing!
  2. Congratulations to our Junior and Senior Class coaches, performers, and sponsors for their creative Halloween skits that wowed our audience on Halloween! Outstanding work on “Attendance is Mandatory” and “Katie” to keep us captivated with your dancing, narration, and stories!
  3. Thank you to our Language Acquisition department and teacher Mr. P. Martinez for organizing a vibrant Dia de los Muertos exhibition and performance.

Athletics:

  1. Congratulations to our Fall sports for continuing to represent our school so well. Our Girls’ Cross Country Team are Northern League Champions, which includes Keely, Kiana, Andrea, Itzel, Iliana, Celeste, and Shaina. Boys finished 2nd overall. We also had individual champions Keely, Omar, Kiana, and James! Thank you, Coach R. Martinez!

Hello, Eagles! This is Mrs. Keipp with the second of two e-mail updates from The Rock. This e-mail is about parent engagement opportunities.

  1. College Application Workshop for seniors is tomorrow, Saturday, November 3, from 9 am to 12 noon, in Room 210. Seniors, finish your Cal State/UC Apps or be 90% completed by the end of the day! We will also help you with your Private/Common Applications.
  2. Our Psychiatric Social Worker Ms. Roman us providing a workshop called, “Depression, Anxiety, What Parents Need to Know.”  It will be held on Tuesday, November 6, at 6pm in the Library. Your student’s social-emotional well-being matters to us.
  3. If your student is newly identified for Special Education Services, you are welcome to attend a training on November 7 regarding behavioral supports. Please see the attached flyer.
  4. Parents your voice matters. Our school would appreciate your leadership. We are looking for parents and community members to join our English Learner Advisory Committee. ELAC represents parents and legal guardians of EL students. The committee advises on programs, services and resources for EL students. Our orientation meeting, nominations and elections for these two councils will be held Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 6PM inside our school library. Snacks and refreshments will be available.  Please invite other parents and community members. We hope to see you there.
